"For more than a year, the Sullivan County village of just over 400 residents has been embroiled in controversy stemming from the construction of Shalom Lamm's 396 unit development. The trouble between Sullivan County and Bloomingburg's Hasidic community started in 2006 when development deal to annex a portion of land in the area. All was fine until it was rumored that a Hasidic Jewish neighborhood was looking to inhabit the region. The local community says the developer tricked them, failing to mention the area was designated for the Jews."
